Armed Forces Day Celebrations
We are delighted to announce the dates for the 2013 Weymouth and Portland Armed Forces Day Celebrations which will take place between Saturday 22nd to Friday 28th June 2013.
Veterans have made and continue to make a major contribution to our Nation and the Weymouth & Portland Armed Forces Day Celebrations will provide a focus on the tireless work carried out by Veteran Associations, individuals and today’s Military Forces. With a host of displays and information available during the week, veterans will be able to discover and receive support available from the various agencies and charity organisations; whilst visitors to the event will be able to appreciate the important role played.
The Service of Remembrance and Parade will take place on Sunday 23rd June 2013 at 11 am, please email through via the contact page if you would like to take part in the Parade.
With many uniquely nostalgic, social and commemorative experiences together with attractions, Weymouth and Portland is the ideal location for one of Britain's largest Veteran’s Festival.
The Festival will include:-
Historic Military Vehicle Display static Display - Pavilion Forecourt -10 am to 2 pm.
Veterans Rendezvous - Relaxed and informal atmosphere, meet new and old friends and comrades, collect lastest festival information. Pavilion Ocean Room - 10 am to 12 noon.
Beach Assault and Bridge Building by Royal Engineers - Weymouth Beach from 12 noon.
Ex - Service Association awareness & fund raising stalls / units together with Welfare and information units i.e. SSAFA / Veterans Agency Advise Bureau etc (All Day on the Esplanade)
Regimental recruitment and promotional awareness stands - Pavilion Forecourt
Sunday 23rd June - Service of Remembrance (11am), Veterans Parade, Vehicle Convoy & RBL Riders - Weymouth seafront
Afternoon Band Performances - Pavilion Forecourt.
Photographic Display of Parade - Pavilion Ocean Room from 3.30 pm.
