Are dogs allowed on Weymouth Beach?
Please remember that dogs need to be under effective voice control and remain in sight. You still need to carry a leash. Don't forget to take poop scoops so you can pick up any mess.
Beach Etiquette for Dog Owners
- Always keep your dog leashed when required (dogs should always be kept on a leash along the promenade)
- Always clean up after your dog and dispose of mess into a bin (mess can be disposed of in to any bin as long as it is in a properly tied bag)
- Do not let your dog approach other beach users or dogs, unless welcomed.
- If off leash your dog needs to be well-behaved, must listen to your verbal commands and it must remain within your sight.
- Always consider other beach users

Are Horses allowed on Weymouth Beach?
Horses can not be ridden on Weymouth beach from1st April to 30th September (inclusive) between the hours of 9am and 7pm.
Beach Etiquette for Horse Riding
- Never race your horse on the beach.
- Approach pedestrians, especially children with extreme caution.
- Give dogs plenty of room.
- Keep your horse to a trot or canter, never break into a gallop during busy periods.

Are BBQ’s allowed on Weymouth Beach?
BBQ’s are not advised on Weymouth Beach, there are allocated BBQ areas in the Nothe Gardens and also at Lodmoor Country Park. However if you do decide to have a BBQ on Weymouth beach you may be asked to extinguish it if it becomes an annoyance to other beach users (for example if it is smoking) or if it becomes a hazard (for example large uncontrollable flames).
Beach BBQ Etiquette
- Never bury your BBQ in the sand or shingle when you have finished with it because it retains heat for a long time and could cause injury to a person or animal if stepped on.
- Never put a used BBQ in to a bin take it home to dispose of safely.
- Always leave the beach as you would like to find it
- Always consider other beach users
Can you Cycle on Weymouth Promenade?
Cycling is not permitted at any time along any of Weymouth Promenade between the Sluice Gardens and the Pavilion.
