Green Tourism

There are many ways in which you can be sustainable once you get to Weymouth and Portland, so join in and help us do our bit.
Getting around once you are here is easy and you don't always have to use your car. There are many unique travel opportunities including the X53 Coastlink bus, an open top bus ride to Portland offering spectacular views and the Wessex Trains 'Rail Ale Trail'. A wide range of excursions are on offer too.
Why not hire a bike and cycle around the town or walk along one of the trails? Cycle-trail leaflets are available from the Tourist Information Centres. You can volunteer to get involved with local green projects such as Dolphin-spotting at Portland Bill, or one of the many 'clean-up' events taking place in the area throughout the year.
Why not try some of Dorset's local produce!
Or visit Dorset Food Week in October.
You can encourage others to be green whilst on holiday by asking your accommodation provider not to change towels and bed linen unecessarily, ensuring that electrical applicances in your accommodatioin are switched off when not in use, and recycling your waste!
